Sioux Falls among 50 best places to live for families. See where it ranked.
Sioux Falls is looking like a nice place to settle down.
South Dakota's largest city has been named one of the 50 best places for families to live in the U.S., according to . The study looked at livability, education, wellness, finances, and resources for aging adults across 2,000 cities to determine the top cities in each state. Sioux Falls came in at No. 42.
The list was topped by Silver Spring, Maryland (yes, like the Fleetwood Mac song) and includes other Midwestern cities like Overland Park, Kansas, and Iowa City, Iowa.
How expensive is Sioux Falls?
Sioux Falls is one of the more affordable places to live in the U.S. with a median home price 16% below the national median. Fortune lists its sale price for single family residences at $287,569, as of 2022. The average household income in the city is $81,276.

What makes Sioux Falls great for families?
Fortune dubs Sioux Falls as a "nature lover’s delight," citing its bike trails along the Big Sioux and the 80 parks in the city. Specifically spotlighted was Falls Park, widely regarded as one of the best urban parks in the country. Sioux Falls also just opened one of the country's largest skate parks at 10th Street and Cliff Avenue.

The city, which was also chosen as a top city to retire in by Forbes, also got credit for its robust health care systems such as Sanford USD Medical Center.
But it's not just greenery and health that makes Sioux Falls prime for families. The city's many cultural connections, including the famous SculptureWalk and its robust fine arts scene, also contributed to Sioux Falls' ranking on this list.
